| THE ADVENTURES OF MISS ALICE
|
The Captain of Miss Alice is John Willis. The First Mate or Admiral as she is affectionately referred to is the lovely Kathy Willis. Miss Alice is a 44 foot Gulfstar. (that's a sailboat for all you landllubbers) She is a sloop that was built in 1981 from a design by Lazarro.
Some of you may be asking yourselves, "Why do these people have a website, and who cares"? For those of you asking these questions you probably need to go to another website. We set this site up mainly for our family and friends (too numerous to name here) so that we would not spend all of our leisure time e-mailing them telling them where we are and what the hell we've been doing!
We have recently retired and are beginning to live our dream of being cruisers. We want to make it an enjoyable journey for our family and friends as well.

Just a quick note. For those of you that don't know us and think our slogan is a little "uppitish", we learned a long time ago, wealth is not measured by money but by the quality of life, i.e. the relationships you develop with others!!! We have been very fortunate to have developed so many wonderful relationships that we consider ourselves to be in the Fortune 100!
John's dream has been to, buy, live on and sail around the world in a sailboat. In March 1995, he took the first step towards that dream when he purchased Miss Alice (a 34 foot O'day) which he named after his Mother. (that is in keeping with his philosophy not to have boats or tattoos with wives names as those might at some time change, present company excluded of course.) Soon after that, he took the second step by moving aboard Miss Alice. Now, that he has achieved retirement, he is beginning the third step - the big adventure!
Kathy, however, did not have quite the same dream in the beginning. Of course, once Miss Alice was purchased and Kathy learned to sail, she fell in love with sailing and the dream. Moving aboard was an adjustment in the beginning, but she quickly adjusted. Now that retirement has been achieved for John, she is also beginning the third step - the big adventure!
